IE8 Security Warning HTTPS content

Since I upgraded to IE8, I’ve been a bit annoyed with the this security warning:

It states: “Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely”. The first time I just pressed Yes, by pressing [Enter] on my keyboard (without reading the warning correctly), which obviously rendered me a incomplete page.

Note to Steve Balmer:
Why change this button press behavior Microsoft, just to let us read dialogs? It will cost time every time we have to read such a dialog, and as you know.. time is money :-)

Since then the warning came up a few times. So I’ve you want to disable this warning the change this:
in IE8, go to [Tools], [internet options] , [security] , [custom level]
and change [display mixed content] to “enable”

Settings will take effect after a restart of IE.

I’m not saying that you should disable the warning. If you find it annoying, you can disable it.
The “old” dialog was different:

As you can see, this is the other way around. The changed it.
What you do with it is your choice.

  1. If you disable this then the unsecured sites may gain access to your secure information. Click on the “More Info” button to read about it. It should only be done in the trusted site zone. The reason the default press is because you have the “prompt” option selected. The reason the prompt option defaults to Yes is because the standard is to default to the most secure position. If you select “think a little” in your mind’s option settings I wouldn’t need to explain all this.

  2. Thanks so much…just like SMoore this thing was drving me crazy….changed to Google Chrome just to avoid it at home but could not at work…now all is good.

  3. Internet Explorer 8 is very good because it is as stable as Opera. I hate the previous versions of IE like IE6 because it hangs frequently. *

  4. Click Tools -> Internet Options -> Security (Tab) -> Trusted Site -> Sites -> Empty Websites Box and uncheck “Require server verification”
Hope this will help u. Thanks
